Jennifer was raised from an infant to be a golfer. She is from a golfing family. Her father, Steven Mark Selfinger, enjoys nothing more than getting out the saw to cut up a set of golf clubs, reattach the handles, and teach another toddler to golf. This alone would be quite enough to make a good golfer out of just about any kid, but on top of it all, Jennifer really took to it with shocking skill and enthusiasm!
The results have been a great pleasure for many to watch. As a young girl, Jennifer played at tournaments all up and down the eastern United States, often advancing from level to level in local, state, regional, national, and even a few international competitions. She has won a truckload of trophies, plaques, cups, and even a trip to Disney World.
At the time of this writing, her summer of 1998 achievements are the most recent and exciting.
Jennifer is now a young woman playing on her high school golf team. She is on the boys team and she is much more than just pulling her share of the weight. She is, in fact, the number two "man" on the team, second only to an insanely good young freshman who just happens to be her brother, Steven Selfinger Jr. Having these two on your high school golf team is a little bit like having Jim Thorpe and Jesse Owens on your high school track team. It is somewhat ridiculous, but lots of fun if you like to win.
College golf teams from all over the USA have been keeping an eye on Jennifer for some years now. Within the limits set by strict NCAA recruiting rules, they do whatever they can to make sure Jennifer realizes just how nice the weather is in Florida, what a wholesome environment they have in Oklahoma, etc. etc. etc.
The newspaper photo displayed here shows Jennifer knocking the ball, with excellent precision, hundreds of yards straight down the fairway. Believe it or not, she can do this at will.
I will endeavor to put articles, reports, photos etc. on this page, but I am not likely to keep up. I am starting with a backlog and, as I have said, Jennifer is likely to produce them faster than I can process them.
Enjoy reading about the exploits of Jennifer Selfinger!
